[edit] Introduction
In February 2021, BSRIA announced the publication of a guide: Project Information Process (BG 78/2021). The guide is part of BSRIA’s effort to research and publish technical knowledge intended to promote best practice across the built environment industry.
[edit] Project information process (BG 78/2021)
The goal, for any project, is to produce the required information at the right time, thus enabling the delivery of a project that meets the client’s needs. The purpose of this guide is to describe the process of identifying the information needs and then to demonstrate how the provision of various information at the appropriate time in the project process links to its success.
The process described is based on an owner-occupier case, such as a university or other organisation with buildings which they commission and then occupy themselves. However, many of the principles described in the guide can also be applied to other types of use cases.
[edit] Guide details
Throughout this guide, the RIBA Plan of Work 2020 is used as a reference point. The Soft Landings Phases are shown alongside the information needs process steps.
As with the related publication, Handover Information and O&M Manuals (BG 79/2020), the guidance is provided in an easy-to-follow format, making use of diagrams and checklists where possible.
BSRIA Commercial Director, Krystyna Dawson, said, “This guide represents BSRIA’s continued commitment to supporting quality and improvement in the built environment by providing up-to-date knowledge and guidance on the important issues facing our industry.”
[edit] BSRIA Publications
Like other BSRIA Guides, BG 78/2021 was authored by BSRIA specialists with the assistance of industry technical experts, and is available from the BSRIA Bookshop.
This article originally appeared on the BSRIA website under the headline, 'BSRIA publishes new guidance on Project Information Process (BG 78/2021).' It was published in February 2021.
